We Start On
Get ready to challenge yourself on 2 wheels, cross rivers on ferry boats and get swept away by the welcoming Konkan region! Cycling is more than just about commuting or staying fit - we think it’s a great way to get immersed in your surroundings. And this Konkan Sunsets trip promises to mix travel, endurance, and cultural exploration in a way that few trips do! The old coastal highway from Rewas (close to Alibag) travels through a Maharashtra that many of us know little about. Slow traveling through this traffic-less road offers unparalleled views of the Arabian sea, un-ventured beaches and THE most gorgeous sunsets ever. Also fuelling our journey will be local food often made by smiling Konkani grandmas! Who knows, we may even get to see Olive Ridley Turtles hatching from their eggs and running straight towards the sea on our last stop. We’ll come back with great memories and no extra holiday calories!
After calling it quits on a PR career in his prime, Sachin travelled to 14 countries in a span of 18 months. From dreaming of adventures to actually having them, he has learnt a fair bit! This comes from the learning challenges he took up in the countries he visited. From rock climbing in Thailand to exploring former war zones in Sri Lanka, learning music & Capoeira in Brazil and doing the Salsa in Colombia - he has done it all!
He has finally found his zen in cycling adventures, and dreams of exploring the world on 2 wheels. He wants others to come along with him, through his blog Eccentrips and its cycling trips. With his wicked sense of humour and love for stories, you’re going to want to hang with him over and over again!
A lot of people have been to the Konkan, but on a bicycle you can get intimate with the road and its views around each curve and expanse. Our route passes through many unventured beaches, small hamlets and amazing sunsets perfect to see on 2 wheels!
As city folk, we're used to going everywhere by car- which is why the ferry rides on this trip are going to be special. The one from Bhaucha Dhakka, for example, gives us a totally different view of the city. Small fishing boats, cargo containers, cruise ships and abandoned trawlers rule the ride from Mumbai to Rewas. We'll also have seagulls for company: its not just in Istanbul that you can feed birds on a boat!
We'll be staying at villages in local homestays throughout the trip, which means not only are we helping the people of the region but getting an immersive look into their culture, and experiencing true Konkan hospitality!
What better way to experience a culture than through our stomachs! Cycling every day in Konkan will make us sweat enough so we can gorge on delicious local food without any of the "vacation binge" guilt. We'll be going to some little-known family restaurants known as khanawals where they serve mouth-watering Konkani food. Watch out for the ukdiche modak and Kokum soda!

The best thing about WCH is that these guys are totally customer centric, right from booking accommodations to setting an itinerary! The itinerary itself doesn't feel like you're on some tour with a rigid schedule. It is pretty free flowing, but extremely well thought out at the same time. I recently went for their Windrush Rising trip in place of my cancelled Eurotrip and I genuinely believe it was one of the best decisions I made.
Trekking with WHC has been one of the most beautiful experience & with perfect team cordination & arrangments provided even at the top of the mountain Wouldn"t expected more, the vibe was just right with like minded people waiting for sunrise. Would highly reccomend everybody to go with WHC (you guys rock!!) thanks for being patient. Thanks Kunal for helping me till the end & Kuntal for sharing your experiences. & would love to trek again in any furture treks.
