We Start On
A few hours and a world away from the clamour of the city is a farm and campsite where a small community gathers every year. Their main agenda: to learn how to build something with only natural, local, and ethically-sourced material! This journey happens at the quiet fort town of Mandangad, where building enthusiasts - from beginners to experts - camp together to get a hands on experience of sustainable construction. Surrounded by greenery and starry skies for company, we work together through the day to create one-of-a-kind structure, and in the evenings follow trails to waterfalls, bond with our campmates in sharing circles and warm up by the bonfires. For anyone looking to discover traditional forms of architecture and indigenous ways of living, this is the place to be.
PYHT - BioArchitects and Thumbimpressions Collaborative are sister organizations run by Areen & Shahveer (PYHT) and Manu (TIC) with a common passion - to create beautiful, sensitive architecture using ethically sourced materials. Both companies formed in 2011, and work individually & together. Areen’s vivacious nature, passion for football & belief that his hair will magically reappear one day make him fun to be around. Shahveer’s grandparents journeyed from Iran to India on a donkey’s back, setting the foundation for his adventures, travels and eccentricities! Manu loves spending his time in the forest and with animals, is extremely fit and ever-ready to passionately converse about any topic in the world.
The fulfilment of building with your hands and the joy of using local and natural materials is unparalelled. You will not only do this but also learn about worldwide uses of these materials- like how mud can be used to make walls. So reconnect with the child in you while you play with mud in this trip!
We will be camping at the site! Think sleeping bags, cozy tents and bonfires and starry skies. Nothing better to enjoy some peace and silence surrounded by mango and cashew trees, away from the city hustle.
We will be going on nature walks around the area - small trails, waterbodies like streams, tiny waterfalls, and even the village nearby! Perfect way to immerse oneself in the culture and nature of the region.
There will be yoga, nature walks, art therapy and sharing circles to help you get away from daily life clutter! You can even simply be amidst the peace and foliage while you contemplate and introspect.
Our meals are going to be authentic Maharashtrian fare, made lovingly by village cooks on firewood! You can even learn how to make a dish or two if you're interested - the locals are happy to teach.
Every evening after working away in the daytime, we will unwind and bond over bonfires, movie screenings, and even a live music night!
We will be going to the beach a little distance away on one of the afternoons, to chill and watch the sunset. For those who want to do something different, there is a stream nearby amidst greenery, that we can walk to and dunk ourselves in!
Other than the locals who you will meet as they cook / help out through the trip and the super-fun trip hosts, you will meet people from different walks of life with varied passions and yet a common interest: creating something naturally using their hands.

The best thing about WCH is that these guys are totally customer centric, right from booking accommodations to setting an itinerary! The itinerary itself doesn't feel like you're on some tour with a rigid schedule. It is pretty free flowing, but extremely well thought out at the same time. I recently went for their Windrush Rising trip in place of my cancelled Eurotrip and I genuinely believe it was one of the best decisions I made.
Trekking with WHC has been one of the most beautiful experience & with perfect team cordination & arrangments provided even at the top of the mountain Wouldn"t expected more, the vibe was just right with like minded people waiting for sunrise. Would highly reccomend everybody to go with WHC (you guys rock!!) thanks for being patient. Thanks Kunal for helping me till the end & Kuntal for sharing your experiences. & would love to trek again in any furture treks.
